Awakening the Kind Heart: March 06 - 07
With Resident Teacher Kelsang Rabka
"Loving-kindness is the very essence of Kadam Dharma and a precious method to attain enlightenment. We will be born as Buddha through loving-kindness for all living beings. In reality, loving-kindness gives you everything." - Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche
When our mind has the nature of love, we naturally feel happy and peaceful. With such a state of mind, it is impossible to become disturbed, depressed or to develop anger or jealousy. In reality, pure love is a powerful force with which we can solve our daily problems and protect ourselves from suffering.
During this special weekend event, Kelsang Rabka will grant the blessing empowerment of Buddha Maitreya, the Buddha of loving-kindness and give teachings and commentary on the profound practice of love. By sincerely relying upon this enlightened being, we will receive his special care in this and all our future lives which will awaken our own potential to develop the universal love of a Buddha.
Who is Buddha Maitreya?
Buddha Maitreya is the embodiment of the loving-kindness of all Buddhas. At the time of Buddha Shakyamuni, he manifested as a Bodhisattva disciple to show Buddha’s disciples how to be a perfect Mahayana disciple. In the future, he will manifest as the fifth founding Buddha in this world and turn the Wheel of Dharma for living beings.
What is an empowerment?
An empowerment is a special guided meditation through which we make a deep, heartfelt connection with a particular Buddha and receive their inspiration and blessings. The enlightened mind is said to be like a boundless deep ocean, every drop of which has the power to bring inner peace to living beings. Receiving an empowerment is a means of connecting with this expansive potential inside our own mind, giving us the energy and wisdom to begin to realise our own Buddha-nature.
