10 & 11 April 2020

We celebrate the anniversary of Buddha Shakyamuni demonstrating the attainment of enlightenment in 589 B.C.E . This is an extremely important day in the Buddhist calendar because our actions are 100,000 times more powerful than on other days.

This event is marked by special purification and fasting retreats in Kadampa Buddhist Centres worldwide based on the practice Drop of Essential Nectar.

This special purification and fasting practice is performed together with prayers and prostrations to the Eleven-Faced Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion. It is very powerful for purifying negativity and strong delusions such as desirous attachment and anger.  It is also a special method for receiving blessings and improving our experience of love, compassion and bodhichitta.  This is not a guided meditation retreat.

Most people have a choice to do a complete fast on the second day (no food or water) but we will provide lunch for those who want it.

** Lunch will be served at 12.30pm prompt and contains only allowed foods. Unless you wish to do a complete fast we advise booking lunch.
