Half-Day Course: Stress Less – Meditations for Stress and Anxiety
Sun 21st Jun | 10am – 1pm
with Buddhist Teacher, Lynn
We all know that stressing out just makes things worse, and yet we often feel we have no choice but to become worried by the pressures of daily life. It's so easy to feel trapped and pressured by circumstances, believing that stress is an inevitable response to our problems.
In reality, stress is the inner tension that arises from the gap between what is happening and what we want to happen. When things don’t go to plan, we often resist reality, which only fuels our anxiety. To truly "stress less," we need to learn the art of acceptance — not as a form of giving up, but as a way to stay calm, clear, and effective. As the 8th Century Buddhist Master Shantideva taught, "If something can be remedied, why be unhappy about it? And if there is no remedy for it, There is still no point in being unhappy."
During this half-day course, Buddhist Teacher Lynn, will lead an exploration of tried-and-tested Buddhist methods designed to empower you to handle life’s difficulties with a calm and spacious mind, enabling you to gradually reduce and abandon stressful and anxious states of mind.
What to Expect:
- Insightful Teaching: Understanding the mechanics of stress and how "acceptance" acts as a practical antidote.
- Guided Meditations: Simple techniques to settle the mind and release the physical and mental tension of anxiety.
- Practical Tools: Advice on how to apply these methods to your daily problems so you can deal with them more confidently.
This course is held in our lovely urban meditation space and is suitable for everyone, regardless of experience—everyone is welcome!
